Three ways to use GoChatRoulette, three different footprints — and the things no mode ever stores.
Effective
How to read this policy
There are exactly three ways to use GoChatRoulette, and each one gives us a different amount of information. Spin anonymously and we hold almost nothing. Sign in and we hold what the sign-in brings. Buy something and the payment adds its paperwork. This page walks through the three modes in that order, then covers what applies to everyone.
Mode one: just spinning
No account is needed to match, so most visitors are in this mode. What reaches us is the technical exhaust every website receives: browser and device type, an approximate region derived from your IP address, and operational logs of when the service ran. No name, no email, no phone number — we never asked for them.
Mode two: signed in
Signing in is optional. Use a sign-in provider such as Google and we receive what it hands over — typically a name, an email address and a profile picture. Build a profile or publish content, and that material stays for as long as the account does.
One thing worth saying plainly: anything you publish publicly is public. Search engines may index it, and deleting it later removes it from here, not from copies other people may already have made.
Mode three: paying for something
Payments run through payment providers, not through us. What we receive is the confirmation — that a transaction happened and what it bought. Full card numbers never touch our systems.
What no mode ever stores: the calls
Video calls on this site are not recorded and not retained. When either side leaves, the conversation is simply over — there is no transcript, no history page, nothing to request a copy of, because nothing was written down.
The limit we cannot engineer away: the stranger on the other side has their own device, and screen recording tools exist entirely outside our reach. Assume any call could be captured by the other participant and keep identifying details out of frame.
Data in your browser
Small amounts of state live in cookies and local storage — session, preferences, aggregate analytics. The itemised list and how to clear it are on the cookie policy page.
Retention, briefly
Operational logs last as long as running and securing the service demands. Account data lives with the account and is deleted or anonymised when it closes, save what law obliges us to keep (purchase records, for instance). Calls, as above, are never kept in the first place.
Your rights over your data
Depending on your jurisdiction you may be entitled to access, correct, export or delete what we hold about you, and to object to some processing. Fair warning that anonymous use leaves so little behind that some requests will come back genuinely empty — which is the system working as designed, not a refusal.
Requests go to [email protected]; include enough detail for us to match you to anything we actually hold.
Nobody under 18
GoChatRoulette is an adults-only service. We do not knowingly collect a minor's information, and accounts found to belong to minors are removed. Reporting a minor: child safety.
When this page changes
Practice changes move this page, and the effective date moves with them. Anything material gets flagged visibly on the site — not buried in a diff.
If anything above is unclear, ask — the contact page explains how to reach a person.
